I got to attend Karen's flute festival day she hosted again. She puts so much work into them and brings out such talented flutists. It's something I look forward to each year now. This year's guest artist was Melissa Keeling, whom I got to meet previously at a flute festival event that I attended with Karen at MIZZOU (where Karen went to school for her Master's degree). So it was fun seeing her again. She is an electric flutist who plays with pedals and has an awesome head joint on her flute called a glissando which slides in and out of the the flute similar to the way a trombone works. So cool. I took the little kids to see her in concert the night before the festival. I also got to buy a CD from another great flutist, Rose Bishop. I'm grateful for music and being able to learn more about what I love to do.
