Hard Day

Unfortunately, the day had come again for Zoie to have another ABR hearing test done. The tests make me nervous enough because my sweet girl has to go through the trouble of getting an IV and then be put under. I don't like seeing her in pain, and the look of her limp body when she is put under gives me such an eerie feeling. It turned out to be a pretty hard day. It was a bit of a struggle to get the IV in her arm. Zoie really dislikes anyone touching her. She knows all too well the pain they will put her through. She threw a pretty good fit when they put the IV in her arm. We took her to the little hearing booth, they hooked up her sleeping medication. When she had fallen asleep, I gave her a kiss goodbye and laid her on the bed there. Kendall and I left and waited around for the test to be completed. When we got news that the test was finished, we were guided into a room to hear the results of her test, but we saw them quickly wheeling her away. It turns out that she was given more than twice the amount of anesthetic medication she should have been given, and they rushed her to the O.R. so that she could be monitored. It really scared Kendall, who had a better idea of what was going on medically than I did. Luckily, she came out of the sleep and recovered okay. I am so grateful to have Kendall, who was able to give Zoie a priesthood blessing before the procedure. I am grateful for the protection she was given, and that everything turned out okay.
