The Compton cousins got to hang out with us for a bit while we waited for their parents to get home with their brand new baby sister, Marlie. She is so sweet. Everyone was SO excited to meet her!

Kendall R. Gallaher Obituary

Kendall R. Gallaher, 83, of Nauvoo, IL passed away at 7:15 am Saturday, September 17, 2022 at his home.

A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy. His brother, Rev. Loyal Gallaher, will officiate the funeral service. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, IL, and Rev. Tim Woodard will officiate the graveside service.

Friends and Family are invited to Kendall's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL.

The funeral service will be live-streamed through O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home. Follow the link on his Tribute Wall or go to https://my.gather.app/remember/kendall-gallaher. The live-stream will start shortly before the service begins.

Kendall was born July 25, 1939, in Plainville, IL to Daniel Gallaher and Leta F. (Hull) Gallaher Sandifer.

He was married to Roberta "Bobbi" Fish on January 17, 1959 at Luther Memorial Church in Quincy, IL. She survives.

In addition to his wife, other survivors include his two sons, Terry Gene (Wendy) Gallaher of Belleville, IL and Dan (Vicki) Gallaher of Nauvoo, IL; six grandchildren, Kendall Gallaher, Robert Gallaher, Sarah Clark, Thomas Gallaher, Tyler Gallaher, and Katherine Gallaher; 16 great-grandchildren, Juliana, Atticus, Landon, Ethan, Sadie, Zoie, Oaklee, Grayson, Jaxon, Kymberlynn Rose, Lincoln, Delaney Jo, Brenton, Elizabeth, Brantley, and Blair; one brother, Rev. Loyal (Bev) Gallaher of Liverpool, NY; two sisters, Barbara Stotts of Burlington, IA and Marilyn Cobb of Fallbrook, CA; and one brother-in-law, Larry Solter of La Grange, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Brandi Nicole; one sister, Joyce Solter; two brothers-in-law, Ken Stotts and Jim Cobb; one niece, Judy Martin; and one nephew, Todd Davis.

Kendall worked on his family farm but was also employed by Firestone, where he worked for 24 years at Electric Wheel, and later, 16 years at Titan Wheel, until his retirement in 1999.

Traveling in his motor home, Kendall would take trips and camp around the country. However, his favorite place to camp was Alaska. He didn`t just stick to traveling in his motor home; he would also take trips on his Honda Gold Wing Interstate motorcycle. He would make trips 4 weeks at a time and ride 5,000 miles to visit his sister in California. Kendall also made two trips to Hawaii, but not by motorcycle or motor home. When Kendall was at home, he enjoyed cooking pork chops, or visiting Sprouts or the Hotel Nauvoo for dinner. Above everything, Kendall loved his family and he always made the journey to be with them.

Pallbearers will be Terry Gallaher, Daniel Gallaher, Kendall W. Gallaher, Robert Gallaher, Thomas Gallaher, Tyler Gallaher, Katherine Gallaher, and Matt Clark.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Dietrich and Sarah Clark.

We went as a family to Grandpa's viewing and funeral. Our hearts are heavy, but we were happy to be together with all of the family.

Two most unusual and uncomfortable looking places were the very spots where little Grayson fell fast asleep. Mom must be wearing this little boy out!

Kindergarten School Days

It's proving to be a pretty great school year so far for our Oaklee angel. She really likes kindergarten.

A couple days later, Oaklee and Sadie decided they wanted to go to bed with curlers in their hair so that they could go to school with curly hair.

Great Grandpa Gallaher

Early this morning, Kendall's Grandpa Gallaher passed away. We are so grateful for the love he shared with his family, the values he taught, and the life he lived. We will miss him. We look forward to being with him again. We sure loved him.

New Hearing Aids

Zoie got new hearing aids today! She was so excited. She chose to have blue molds, turquoise hearing aids, and pink tubing. She is pretty pleased with how they turned out.

 

Homecoming

Landon went with a group of his friends to homecoming. These were a couple fun pictures I got to see of them all before they went to the dance. What a good group of teenagers.

A Walk and a Lot of Watermelon

What a beautiful day for a walk around the neighborhood! And we hit the watermelon jackpot. Grandma Gallaher gave us enough watermelons to fill our trunk!
